Problem Details & What We Check
Each block covers common symptoms, possible causes and how professional repair usually starts. Findings depend on model and on-site inspection.
Washing Machine Not Spinning
Symptoms: The wash seems to finish, but clothes remain very wet; the drum may tumble weakly or stop before high-speed spin.
Possible causes:
- Unbalanced load or repeated redistribution pauses
- Drive belt, coupling or motor-related wear
- Door lock / lid switch not confirming a closed state
- Drain incomplete, so spin is blocked for safety
- Control or sensor faults interrupting spin speed
A technician checks whether water has left the drum, verifies lock and drive behaviour, then explains repair options before parts or labour proceed. Diagnostic charges may apply. Confirm when booking.
If you smell burning or see smoke, switch the machine off at the wall and do not restart it until inspected.
Washing Machine Not Draining
Symptoms: Standing water remains after the cycle; drain errors appear; the machine pauses at rinse or spin.
Possible causes:
- Blocked coin filter or foreign object in the pump
- Kinked, clogged or poorly routed drain hose
- Failing drain pump motor or impeller
- Pressure / level sensing issues that confuse the cycle
- Control decisions that abort drain mid-cycle
Professional repair starts with a controlled drain check, filter and hose inspection, then pump testing where needed. You get a clear quote before repair work begins.
Do not force-drain with DIY bypasses that leave live electrical parts exposed. Switch off if water reaches sockets or the floor becomes slippery.
Washing Machine Leaking Water
Symptoms: Water appears around the machine during fill, wash or spin; wet skirting or nearby cabinets; damp smell after use.
Possible causes:
- Door bellow / gasket wear or debris trapped in the seal
- Loose inlet or drain hose connections
- Detergent drawer overflow or blocked dispenser path
- Tub seal or hose clamp failure
- Over-sudsing from incorrect detergent dosage
On-site leak tracing identifies whether the issue is external plumbing, a seal, or an internal hose before recommending parts. Independent repair — we are not a manufacturer service centre.
Switch the washer off and turn off the tap if leaking continues. Keep water away from power points.
Washing Machine Leaking From Bottom
Symptoms: Puddles form under the base; water tracks from the machine feet; leak only shows during spin or drain.
Possible causes:
- Drain pump housing crack or pump seal weep
- Internal circulation or drain hose split
- Tub / bearing seal deterioration
- Loose sump hose clamp
- Condensation from a combo dryer section (where fitted)
Bottom leaks often need panel access and careful isolation of the wet component. A technician inspects from the source outward and explains repair versus further monitoring after diagnosis.
Unplug the machine if water is pooling near the plug. Do not tilt a full machine yourself — trapped water can spill suddenly.
Washing Machine Door Won't Open
Symptoms: Door stays locked after the cycle; handle moves but latch will not release; error related to door lock.
Possible causes:
- Water still in the drum keeping the interlock engaged
- Faulty door lock / PTC actuator
- Control board not sending unlock signal
- Mechanical latch misalignment
- Child-lock or UI setting still active
Safe release starts with confirming power state and whether water must be drained first. Forcing the door can damage the latch and seal — professional checks reduce that risk.
Do not prise the door with tools that can crack the glass or damage the lock. If water is inside, treat it as a drain issue first.
Washing Machine Won't Turn On
Symptoms: No lights, blank display, buttons unresponsive, or the machine powers briefly then dies.
Possible causes:
- Supply / socket / extension issues
- Door lock circuit preventing start
- Control board or UI module fault
- Internal wiring or filter capacitor problems
- Tripped residual current device after a leak or short
Diagnosis separates household power problems from appliance faults before recommending boards or locks. Share any recent surge, renovation or water incident when you book.
If the breaker trips repeatedly when the washer is plugged in, leave it unplugged and arrange inspection — do not keep resetting the breaker.
Washing Machine Not Filling With Water
Symptoms: Cycle starts but little or no water enters; long waits at fill; inlet or water-supply related errors.
Possible causes:
- Tap closed or low household water pressure
- Inlet hose kinked or mesh filter clogged
- Inlet valve coil or diaphragm fault
- Water level sensor misreading
- Control logic aborting fill early
A technician verifies supply at the tap, checks hose screens and valve operation, then confirms sensing before quoting parts. Diagnostic charges may apply. Confirm when booking.
Turn the tap off if a hose is bulging or spraying. Replace damaged inlet hoses promptly after diagnosis.
Washing Machine Making Loud Noise
Symptoms: Banging in spin, grinding during wash, squealing on start, or heavy vibration that walks the machine.
Possible causes:
- Foreign object between drum and tub (coin, bra wire)
- Worn shock absorbers or suspension
- Bearing wear (often louder at high spin)
- Drive pulley or belt noise
- Machine not level on the floor
Noise diagnosis listens across cycle stages and inspects drum play, suspension and drive components. Early checks can limit secondary damage when bearings or shocks are involved.
Stop the cycle if metal-on-metal grinding is severe. Continuing to spin a failing bearing can worsen the fault.
Washing Machine Drain Pump Problems
Symptoms: Slow draining, humming without water movement, drain error codes, or unusual pump noise.
Possible causes:
- Debris jammed in the pump impeller
- Blocked filter housing
- Failed pump motor windings
- Airlock or hose height issues
- Intermittent electrical supply to the pump
Pump work usually includes clearing accessible traps, verifying hose flow and testing the pump under load. Compatible parts depend on brand and model after diagnosis.
Place a shallow tray and towels before opening a filter — residual water can spill quickly.
Other Washing Machine Problems
Symptoms: Error codes, cycles that freeze mid-programme, poor cleaning, no heat on heated programmes, or washer-dryer drying faults.
Possible causes:
- Sensor or electronics faults shown as codes
- Heating element or NTC issues on heated washes
- Software / control glitches after power cuts
- Combo dryer airflow or condenser problems
- User-interface or selector faults
If your symptom is not listed above, WhatsApp a photo of the display, model label and a short description. We arrange independent home diagnosis where the model is practical to service.
For burning smells, sparks or repeated breaker trips, switch off immediately and contact us before further use.
